I was unexpectedly let go from my first two jobs after graduating from Drexel University, a college designed to equip students with the skills and experience needed for successful careers. After the second layoff, I realized I needed to radically change my job search approach and focus on who I am as a person, not just let my past dictate my future. I embarked on a journey of deep introspection, exploring my innate traits like empathy, curiosity, storytelling, and the ability to forge strong connections.
Driven by my desire to serve others, I transitioned into sales despite doubts from others about my ability to succeed without prior experience. With limited funds, I attended sales conferences, devoured sales literature, and learned from my father, a lifelong salesperson, who mentored me throughout my journey. I walked the walk of a salesperson until I became one.
Within six weeks, I landed a direct selling position at a high-growth tech startup and closed the largest deal in company history during my first year. Over the next seven years, I gained invaluable skills running complex sales cycles and closing deals with the biggest companies in the world. However, despite succeeding in the roles and achieving financial freedom, I found myself yearning to help others more genuinely.
Throughout my career transitions, I developed a job-search system that aligns with individuals’ personalities and strengths, guided by winning sales strategies, and fueled by AI.
Recognizing my passion for teaching, I completed a three-month course with the National Career Development Association, focusing on the core competencies of career development.
Today, with my Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential, I’m dedicated to helping professionals not just find new jobs but align their career moves with their authentic selves.
